Where Does Our Agarwood Come From?

Agarwood can be found across various regions in Southeast Asia and Southern China. Currently, our primary focus is centered on one renowned origin: Hainan, China.

Tropical landscape and geographical region of Hainan Island, China
Hainan Island, located in tropical southern China, offers a warm environment where Aquilaria sinensis occurs naturally.

Hainan has a centuries-long history of agarwood production. Its warm, tropical climate and forest ecosystems provide habitat for Aquilaria sinensis, the native tree species associated with agarwood in southern China.

Aquilaria sinensis trees growing naturally in a tropical environment
Aquilaria sinensis is the agarwood-producing tree species associated with Hainan and southern China.
Historically known as “Hainan Incense” (海南沉香), agarwood from this region has a long-standing place in the local agarwood tradition.

By focusing on Hainan agarwood, we share the story of this traditional origin through the tree itself and the resin-rich material formed within it.

Hainan remains the primary origin represented in our current agarwood collection and the origin we focus on sharing with our customers.
